Criterion will distribute Revanche

Janus Films and the Criterion Collection will distribute “Revanche”, winner of best screenplay and audience award in the 2008 edition of the Monterrey International Film Festival.

Michael Jones, who writes "The Circuit", Variety´s specialized film festival blog, has reported that Janus Films will buy the U.S. rights to Revanche, directed by Götz Spielman.

Revanche had it´s Mexican premiere at the Monterrey International Film Festival this year and later traveled to the Toronto and AFI fests. In Monterrey it received the Best Screenplay and Audience awards and it is Austria´s official entry for the Oscar nominations.

The film will be released theatrically in march, reported Jones, and later will be part of the prestigious Criterion Collection. Janus had not distributed a first run film in 30 years.
