For the first time, the Monterrey International Film Festival, now in its fourth year, is inviting spectators to form an Audience Jury and select the first annual Audience Award. Fifty audience members will be selected as representatives of the audience at the Festival and will vote for their favorite film.

We want to get closer to the public and offer people the opportunity to get closer to the festival, commented Juan Manuel González, the Festival’s Director. Diversity is what we’re hoping for in this jury, that will represent the variety of spectators attending the festival who will use their own criteria to select the best film.

The Audience Jury will score the 14 feature films in competition from the festival’s official selection. This section, considered as the Festival’s competitive heart, includes seven feature fiction films and seven feature documentary films.

Those interested in being part of the Audience Jury must meet the following requirements: be eighteen years of age or older, attend two film screenings per day, attend a training session and attend a deliberation session. To apply, request the registration form via e-mail at info@monterreyfilmfestival.com, complete the form and answer several questions on the type of films you prefer.

The selection questions will be used exclusively to know the candidates’ film preferences to help form a diverse jury. There are no correct or incorrect answers, explained Juan Manuel González. They will help us form a diverse and, we hope, representative jury.

The 50 people selected as jury members will receive a Festival accreditation to attend the screenings free of charge, and will also be invited to the various events organized by the Festival. Their names will be registered as the first jury that selected the Audience Award for the 4th Monterrey International Film Festival.

AUDIENCE JURY

The Monterrey International Film Festival is pleased to present, for its 2008 edition, the call for entries to be part of the Audience Jury that will select the Audience Award for one of the 14 feature films included in the Festival’s Official Selection (fiction and documentary)

This call for entries is directed to the State of Nuevo Leon’s audience and will be open from the publication date through June 27th, 2008.

JURY COMPOSITION

The jury will be composed of 50 members of the State of Nuevo Leon’s community, regardless of profession or occupation.

ELIGIBILITY REQUISITES

-Eighteen years of age or older.

-Resident of the State of Nuevo León.

-Complete availability from 3:00 pm on in order to watch 2 feature films each day from August 16th to 22nd, and attend a voting session on the morning of August 23rd.

-Submit a registration form and answer the selection questions

-Sign a Letter of Intent

-Attend a training session on Wednesday July 23rd, at 7:00 pm.

NOTES:

Any situation unforeseen in this call for entries will be resolved by the Organizing Committee of the Festival.

The Official Selection consists on fourteen feature films, seven feature fiction films and seven feature documentary films. The award will be given to only one of these fourteen films.
